Who we are
The Boys Club is run by a small voluntary committee, and we're responsible for the details you send us. If you have a question about any of this, contact Ben Madden at ben@digitalsparks.co.uk.
The small print
No one reads these. So here it is as short and plain as we can make it.
The Boys Club is a community for men in the property industry. What follows is what actually happens to your details when you get in touch.
The Boys Club is run by a small voluntary committee, and we're responsible for the details you send us. If you have a question about any of this, contact Ben Madden at ben@digitalsparks.co.uk.
When you use the contact form, you give us your name, your email address, your company if you choose to add it, and your message. That's everything.
If you're going through something, you're welcome to tell us. But please don't feel you need to put details about your health in the form. Only the committee reads it, and we'd rather talk properly than have it sitting in a message.
The site doesn't run advertising tools or tracking cookies, and we don't build a profile of you from the pages you look at. Like most websites, our host may record basic, anonymous visit numbers so we know the site is working.
If a page has something from another service on it, like a Spotify player, that service may set its own cookies when you use it.
We use what you send to reply to you. If your message is about an event or getting involved, we use it to sort that out.
We do this because we have a genuine interest in replying to people who get in touch and in running the community. That's the legal basis, in plain terms.
We don't sell your details, we don't pass them to advertisers, and we don't add you to a marketing list you never asked for.
It comes through to the people who run The Boys Club, so one of us can answer you properly. It isn't shared outside the committee.
The site is hosted on Lovable. Lovable, and the services it uses to send email, handle your message on our behalf so that it reaches us. Some of those services may be based outside the UK; where they are, UK data protection law requires safeguards to be in place.
Your message lands in our inbox, and a copy may also be held securely by our website host. We keep it for as long as it takes to reply and keep the conversation going, and no longer than we need to.
If you'd rather it was deleted, tell us and we'll remove it.
When you ask to join the Facebook Group, it asks you a few questions, such as your company and role. The committee reads your answers to decide on your request, and we use them for nothing else. Facebook holds them under its own privacy policy.
If you sign up for an event, we use your name and contact details to organise it and keep you posted about it. Nothing more.
The Facebook Group, Spotify and the support organisations we point to are their own places, run by other people. Once you click through, their privacy terms apply, not ours.
The support organisations we list are independent. We aren't formally affiliated with them and we don't speak for them.
You can ask to see what you've sent us, correct it, have it deleted, or object to how we use it. Email Ben at the address above or use the contact form. The same goes for any question about this note.
You also have the right to raise a concern with the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you think we've handled something badly.
If we start doing anything different with people's details, we'll update this page so it stays accurate.
One thing worth saying again: The Boys Club is a community, not a mental health service or a crisis line. If you or someone else is in danger, call 999. For urgent support, Samaritans are free on 116 123, any time, or call NHS 111 and choose the mental health option.
